What Stake Engine rankings can actually prove

Start with the actual number

A game climbing the Stake Engine table is an interesting prediction. Before calling it a race for new bets, check what the source actually supplies. A changing counter does not explain its own time window.

Our 25 October check of Stake Engine’s gameRanking endpoint returned 100 rows containing team names, game names, turnover and betCount. The response did not include a measurement timestamp or a definition of the counter’s window. Our retrieval time tells us when we received it; it does not prove when the underlying activity happened.

A bigger counter is not always more new bets

Subtracting two readings measures the change in the reported number. It measures new bets only if the source guarantees a cumulative counter with consistent coverage. A rolling window, correction or reset can break that assumption.

For example, a counter dropping from 10,000 to 8,000 cannot establish that a game received minus 2,000 bets. Replacing that drop with zero also invents an answer. A market needs a published rule for missing or incompatible evidence, rather than a repair chosen after the bets are placed.

Ask a question the table can answer

A cleaner candidate is: which of two named games will show the higher reported bet count at a specified UTC observation? This compares a visible value at a defined observation, without claiming to count every bet placed during a period.

The conditions still matter: name the exact source and games, define the capture window, decide what happens on a tie, and say what happens if either game is absent. A missing row in a limited table does not mean zero bets. These are requirements for future markets, not permission to change the terms of an existing one.

Keep the receipt

A useful result links to the source and preserves the response, observation time and a hash of the saved evidence. The result should explain the comparison in one sentence. The hash helps detect a changed record; it does not independently prove that an external source was truthful.

On Inari, read the market’s own decision rules before choosing YES or NO. If the evidence cannot support the stated question, a confident-looking price is not a substitute for proof.
